Gorge Watershed Cleanup & Community Education

School: Esquimalt High School

Votes Received: 41

For several years Esquimalt High School students have worked with community partners to clean up and raise awareness about the Gorge Waterway - Victoria's False Creek. Students built a model of this watershed and taught other schools and the public about this intertidal ecosystem using seaquaria and “touch tanks”. Students also help with the adjacent Point Ellice Shoreline Restoration by removing tonnes of invasive species from this historic site to restore its unique ecosystem.
